Our Mission

At Cavemann Engineering, we’ve based the vision of our design on one key principle: build the most energy-efficient and state-of-the-art homes on the market. Powered with 100% passive solar energy, Cavemann Dwellings provide a unique living experience at the lowest possible maintenance and cost to the consumer. All Cavemann Dwellings are strategically engineered to last up to 100 years with little-to-no maintenance, contact our team today to reserve yours!

About The Design

Construction

Cavemann Dwellings are constructed with high-density structural steel and steel-reinforced concrete. Our designs are engineered to not only support the earth that shelters and insulates the dwelling, but from seismic activity as well.

Electric

Cavemann Dwellings are 100% solar electric using the latest technology in solar equipment. All dwellings are outfitted with Tesla batteries, DC appliances, and LED lighting, creating the lowest possible carbon-footprint home on the market. Our dwellings are the ideal home for anyone, especially those seeking to reduce their energy consumption or live off-grid.

Water

Cavemann Dwellings reuse 100% of the water they collect a total of four times! Here’s how:

1.) All the drains in the home, with the exception of the kitchen sink and toilets, are filtered and stored in a holding tank and is thereto referred to as “greywater”.

2.) The greywater is then used to fill the toilets and water plants and vegetables in the greenhouse.

3.) The water from the kitchen sink and the toilets go directly into a septic tank outside of the house.

4.) After reaching the septic tank, the water is piped directly into an in-ground, lined planter system, outside the home to water fruit trees.

With a 100% reusable water system, no water seeps into the earth or is lost to evaporation, ever.

Plants & Vegetables

Cavemann Dwellings feature a 60ft planter box which runs the entire length of the sunroom along with two built-in earth-sheltered greenhouses. Together, the sunroom and greenhouse yield nearly 800ft of indoor garden-growing space with a consistent water supply from the greywater reuse system.

Heating & Cooling

Designed to maintain a constant 71*F, although the temperature can be raised or lowered as desired, thermal management is achieved with the ability to control the flow of air through the house.

Airflow control is accomplished using convection which happens when the sun shines through the south-facing windows and heats the air in the sunroom. From there, the hot air rises and goes up into the solar chimneys where it is super-heated by the sun and creates a much greater higher CFM (cubic feet per minute) of draft. This draft will then pull air out from the indoor living space, along with air from outside, into the cooling tubes that run through the earth and enter through the back of the house. In the cooling tubes, the air is chilled by the lower temperature of the earth, creating a natural, fresh air-conditioning, powered by the sun.

Thermal Energy

Cavemann Dwellings use aerospace thermal management technology, incorporating phase change materials (PCMs) to achieve thermal energy storage (TES). The PCMs are engineered to activate at 24*C/75.2*F, above this temperature, the PCMs will store heat, below this temperature, the PCMs will release heat. In the winter when the sun shines through the south-facing windows, the PCMs collect and store the heat at a constant rate of 24*C/75.2*F and after the sun sets and the ambient temperature drops below 24*C/75.2*F, the PCMs release the stored heat at the same constant rate of 24*C/75.2*F, thus, keeping the house warm all night.
